About Portugal Dispatch
Who we are, what we cover, and how we work
Portugal Dispatch is an independent news and information source covering Portugal for the expats, immigrants, and foreign residents actually living here, visa and residency policy, banking and money matters, property, politics, and daily life stories that rarely make it into English-language coverage.
We started publishing in 2026 from Porto, with a simple goal: cover the practical, often overlooked stories that affect foreign residents in Portugal, sourced from Portuguese-language reporting and official data that most English-language outlets don't translate or follow closely.
What we cover
Immigration and residency policy (AIMA, visas, nationality law), banking and financial infrastructure, property and cost-of-living trends, Portuguese politics as it affects foreign residents, and daily-life stories, from public transport to bureaucracy to the news your neighbors are actually talking about.
How we work
Our reporting synthesizes original Portuguese-language sources, national newspapers, government releases, and official statistics, into clear, English-language coverage aimed at a foreign-resident audience. We use AI-assisted tools as part of our drafting and editing process; every article is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Full detail is available on our Editorial Standards page.
